LGBTQ bars in Milwaukee ban patrons from wearing Jeffrey Dahmer costumes

LGBTQ bars in Milwaukee, Wisconsin are banning patrons from wearing Jeffrey Dahmer Halloween costumes because the notorious serial killer notoriously preys on the city’s gay community.

The convicted serial killer targeted the Wisconsin city’s gay male community between the late 1970s and early 1990s. Dahmer killed 17 men and boys, whose bodies he dismembered and sometimes ate.

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994) was an American serial killer, who murdered 17 men between 1978 and 1991 (the majority of murders occurring between 1989 and 1991). His murders were particularly gruesome, involving rape, necrophilia, and cannibalism. With massive evidence against him, Dahmer pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. The court found Dahmer sane and guilty of 15 counts of murder and sentenced him to 15 life terms, totaling 957 years in prison.

Two Milwaukee gay bars, DIX and This Is It, wrote on social media ahead of Halloween weekend warning customers that Dahmer costumes were banned.

“We’re here to have a good time, respect everyone, and make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable,” DIX wrote in a Facebook post. “No Jeffrey Dahmer costumes at the bar please.”

“Well said,” one client commented on the post.

“Crazy respect for not allowing the Dahmer costume,” wrote another.

Another downtown bar is also warning customers not to show up in Dahmer costume.

This Is It also posted a Dahmer suit ban on Facebook, saying he has been getting phone calls since the Netflix series about the serial killer aired.

“In solidarity with other Queer establishments, this Halloween weekend, we reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone wearing hateful, racist and otherwise disrespectful costume choices.” This Is It wrote in a Facebook post. “That includes anyone dressed as Dahmer.”
