Leicester star Vardy remains with a knee injury

Leicester v PSV: Team news

Jamie Vardy remains out for Leicester.

The forward is out with a knee injury, while Danny Ward, Ryan Bertrand and Wilfred Ndidi are also out with knee issues.

Brendan Rodgers said: “It’s hard to set a schedule. He still feels pain in his knee. He can run and he’s on the outside, but when he kicks the ball there’s a problem so we’ll have to get to the bottom of it.

“I just spoke to Jamie. He was outside, running in a straight line. It was just when he opened up the MCL a bit when he kicked the ball that he felt pain.

“I’ll have to speak to the medical team to see where it stands, but it doesn’t look like he’s getting too close to being back.”

Luke Thomas could play a role for the Foxes while James Justin, Timothy Castagne, Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans have returned from injury in recent weeks.

Leicester have impressed in the Europa Conference League so far

Leicester v PSV: What was said?

Leicester defender Wesley Fofana: “It’s a big game and they’re a great team.

“They have done well in the Champions League and the Europa League in the past. They are a talented team, with good players, so it will be a very difficult game, but we are a good team and we will do everything we can to win the game.

“If we win the first game, we go towards them with much more confidence, because we will have an advantage over them.

“However, both games are important, because we came into the game at Rennes 2-0, and the second leg was very tight, so it’s important not to let up on the accelerator.

“It’s always better to win the first leg because it gives you that advantage.

“I’m so excited to be back. I can’t wait to be back at the stadium to play in front of our fans, because last season we had COVID, so I didn’t have that opportunity.

“I’m a little nervous, but I’m also excited and can’t wait to go.”
