Kyle Rittenhouse Murder Trial: Man Who Survived Bullet Thought He “Was Going To Die” | Jacob blake

A man who was shot and shot by Kyle Rittenhouse during protests against racial injustice in Kenosha, Wis., Testified at the 18-year-old’s murder trial on Monday, telling jurors he believed ‘he was “going to die”.
Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, who had a gun in his hand as he walked towards Rittenhouse, suffered a wound in the arm moments after Rittenhouse shot dead Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, last August .
“I believe in the Second Amendment,” Grosskreutz said in court on Monday. “I am for the right of people to bear and bear arms. And that night was no different from any other day. It’s keys, a phone, a wallet, a gun.
Rittenhouse traveled from his home in Antioch, Ill., In response to a Kenosha-based militia calling for the protection of businesses from protesters supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Then aged 17, Rittenhouse was armed with an AR-15 type rifle.

Grosskreutz, who trained as a paramedic, said he volunteered as a medic during protests in Milwaukee in the days following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, by a Minneapolis police officer who s ‘is kneeling on his neck.
Grosskreutz attended around 75 protests, he said, offering help to anyone in need of medical attention, before the night he was shot.
In Kenosha, he said, he wore a hat marked “paramedic” and carried medical supplies as well as a loaded pistol. Grosskreutz said his license to carry a concealed weapon had expired and he did not have a valid license that night.
He said he provided medical assistance to around ten people.
Rittenhouse kept his eyes on Grosskreutz as he testified. When asked questions by prosecutors, Grosskreutz turned and looked directly at the jurors, a few feet away.
In a video released in court, Grosskreutz was shown approaching Rittenhouse in Kenosha as Rittenhouse ran. Grosskreutz asked what Rittenhouse was doing and if anyone had been shot. Rittenhouse replied, “I’m going to the police. I did not do anything.
Grosskreutz said at the time he believed Rittenhouse said: “I work with the police.”
When a prosecutor asked Grosskreutz why he hadn’t shot Rittenhouse, Grosskreutz said, “Like I said, that’s not the kind of person I am. That’s not what I was there for. It’s not who I am. And certainly not someone I want to be.
During the first week of Rittenhouse’s trial, prosecutors released videos showing the events of the night in question from different angles. Jurors heard testimony from people who were with Rittenhouse, police officers and relatives of the deceased men.
The highly controversial trial, which is expected to last around two weeks, will determine whether Rittenhouse acted in self-defense or in an intentional act of vigilance.
The 18-year-old is charged with two counts of homicide, one of attempted homicide and two of recklessly endangering security, for firing his gun near other people. He is also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor, since he was 17 years old at the time. Facing a possible life sentence, he pleaded not guilty.
