Kirby: 50th England cap extra special after roller coaster time on and off the pitch

Helsinki women’s striker Fran Kirby said it would be “really special” if she could make her 50th appearance for England on Tuesday night.
The 28-year-old can win her 50th cap if she faces Latvia in Riga, with England looking to maintain their perfect start to the World Cup qualifiers after beating Northern Ireland 4-0 at Wembley on Saturday.
“I hope I can play a role and get the 50th selection. It’s obviously something I’m really proud of, ”Kirby said.
“I’ve been with this team for a long time, so for me getting this 50th selection would be really, really special.
“It’s just nice to be back and to play regularly for the team and with the team. I really appreciate it, so I’m excited for it.
“It’s been a roller coaster for sure, but it’s a trip that I’m really proud of and that I think in hindsight I wouldn’t change much. I’ve been through a lot, but it made me who I am.
