Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service has announced.
The 62-year-old was also charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without their consent.
The alleged incidents took place in London between March 2005 and August 2008, and in Gloucestershire in April 2013.
Spacey is one of the world’s best-known actors and has won Oscars for his roles in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty.
Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS’s Special Crimes Division, said: “The CPS has authorized criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, on four counts of sexual assault against three men.
“He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without their consent. The charges follow a review of evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in their investigation.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that the criminal proceedings against Mr. Spacey are active and that he is entitled to a fair trial.”
