Democratic Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs dodged several questions Wednesday on “CNN This Morning” about not debating her opponent, Republican candidate Kari Lake.
Co-host Don Lemon said, “I want to talk to you about debate. Why not debate your opponent? If you think your opponent has, you know, trouble spreading conspiracy theories about a stolen election, etc., and he’s not being honest with the people of Arizona, why not get on the scene of the debate and discuss it with her? »
Hobbs said, “You know, not only did Kari Lake center her entire platform around this election denial, I didn’t want to give her a bigger stage to do it. But in addition, she showed that she was not interested in a substantive conversation. She is creating a show.
Lemon insisted, “If you were in the same space as her, wouldn’t it be easier to knock him down in front of everyone, in front of the most people, because you’re not stopping him from spilling all that stuff. do you believe she’s spreading by not discussing her? She can go on TV and talk about it, but you don’t confront her about it. Seems like it would be an easy fix if you stood up on a stage of debate and that you confront it.
Hobbs said: “Listen, we are six days away from this election and your campaign strategy is our campaign strategy. We move forward. I continue to make my case to the voters of Arizona. Whether or not we debated in this race, we made a decision, we didn’t want to be part of his show.
