Joseph Parker believes that if Tyson Fury comes out of retirement and fights the winner of Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk, he would knock out one or the other.
Joshua and Usyk will lock horns again this summer with the IBO, WBO, WBA (super) and IBF heavyweight titles on the line, but The Gypsy King still holds the WBC title.
Fury would be in a prime position to fight for the undisputed title once Joshua and Usyk are settled, a fight he tried to make with AJ last summer and considered with Usyk earlier this year before deciding to fight his mandatory challenger. , Dillian Whyte.
Parker, a former WBO world heavyweight champion in his own right, is now a training partner with Fury and he thinks the 33-year-old would be too much for AJ or Usyk.
“They’re both great fighters, Joshua and Usyk, I just see Tyson is too much for them,” Parker told Sky Sports.
“Everyone is going to say I’m biased because I train with Tyson and we’re very close. If I step back as a friend and think about boxing, he’s too, able to put the pressure, able to fight on the back foot, very good motor.
“If he gets the opportunity to fight one of those guys, I think he would knock them out.”
Fury told talkSPORT it would take £500m to get him back in the ring. The undefeated heavyweight could be looking to create fan demand while he’s gone, which will increase his value, or he could actually be retired.
Parker doesn’t think Fury should leave just yet. He thinks the undisputed title is too much to pass up.
“It’s going to take a lot of money to get him back into boxing and into the ring and into battle. I don’t think he should retire.
“I think he should fight the winner out of [Anthony] Joshua and [Oleksandr] Usyk and whoever wins is the best in the world right now so he should come back and fight the winner.
Joshua vs Usyk II is expected to be announced imminently and the target date so far is August 20 in Saudi Arabia.
