Joe Biden’s Open Borders Harm Other Nations
President Joe Biden’s open-border policy is destroying poor countries by extracting their youth and enriching their criminals, says GOP Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla).
“Despite all the rhetoric from the Biden administration about wanting to help stabilize poorer countries so their citizens don’t want to leave, the administration’s policies are doing the exact opposite,” Rubio said in an op-ed. of May 25. He continued:
Lure [migrant] people far from home with political promises and fueling cartel industries are making matters worse in Mexico, Guatemala and beyond. And yes, it also makes things worse in the United States.
What world do we want to leave to our children? One with a growing and increasingly desperate pool of would-be emigrants? Or one in which people do not feel the need to flee their communities for a better life elsewhere? The latter sounds much better than the former to me. But we will only achieve it if we secure the border.
Biden’s migration policies “suck the life out of these countries,” Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, told Breitbart News.
Americans need a term to describe Biden’s damaging migration policy, she said. “I thought about ‘Parasite,’ but I don’t think that’s quite it,” she said, later adding that it could be described as “‘Vampire Migration’…until which I find a better term.”

Rubio’s move to shine a light on the foreign damage caused by Biden’s policies comes as other Republicans, such as Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX), shine a light on the damage to American cities. News reports highlight the large number of migrants killed trying to reach Biden’s reception.
Vaughan explained how Biden’s welcoming of illegal migration destroys small countries:
As this is an illicit activity, it is carried out by criminal organizations. Thus, human trafficking is dangerous for migrants and enriches [local] cartels whose power then increases and therefore their ability to disrupt civil society is all the greater.
But on another level, it causes the development of a mindset in the population of the countries of origin according to which their only hope of a decent life is to migrate to a richer country. Instead of finding ways to have a good life where they are, instead of trying to run a business and survive on their minds and ideas in their home country, they don’t Don’t even consider it because it’s easier to take off for the United States.
So they don’t build their own communities. They are not creating jobs and wealth in their country of origin. Rubio’s op-ed also noted that Biden’s policies are helping cartels get deeper into Central American countries:

By giving people hope for something that just isn’t possible – the ability for anyone in need to enter the United States – they unleash a spirit of anarchy that organized criminals are bound to exploit for their own benefit, to the detriment of all others.
Biden’s migration policy is also a lifeline for regional dictatorships, Vaughan added;
The existence of illegal migration as a safety valve helps sustain these authoritarian governments in places like Cuba, Venezuela, and other countries in the hemisphere. It relieves them of the responsibility to make improvements to the economy and the quality of life. They know that unhappy people will just leave and that’s fine with them, as it allows them to better control the population that remains.
The extractive power of the half-open American frontier is widely recognized in Central America, in part because many towns have half-American-style mansions whose owners still work blue-collar jobs in Texas, New York or Indiana.
