Joe Biden will absolutely face Democratic opposition in 2024, says Huckabee

President Joe Biden will almost certainly face Democratic primary challengers in the 2024 election, according to a prominent Republican.
Despite the longstanding precedent of presidents seeking a second term, many have questioned whether or not Biden would do so since the start of his first term in 2021. Some have argued that Biden, 80, may be too old to continue serving. serve, as he is already the oldest person ever elected to the presidency. Others pointed to discontent within Democratic Party factions. Despite Biden’s many bipartisan accomplishments, his tenure has often been turbulent and marred by low approval ratings.
During a recent appearance on Fox News, Mike Huckabee, a Republican who served as governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, said that while he thinks Biden is likely to run in 2024, he also thinks there will almost certainly be main challengers. also for the Democratic nomination.

“He won’t have a solo run on that,” Huckabee said. “There will be other Democrats. Gavin Newsom, maybe more moderate governors will step in. But he won’t have the stage all to himself. Because I think a lot of Democrats realize, number one, that he He’s already 80. He’s going to be 82 by the time the election rolls around. It’s unprecedented. It’s not the senior bowl. It’s the toughest job in the world. He’s already shown that maybe he wasn’t quite up to it.
“Will he run? Probably. But will he run unopposed in the Democratic primary? Absolutely not,” the former governor added.
Although Biden has yet to officially declare that he will seek re-election in 2024, he has repeatedly indicated his intention to do so. The talk around his 2024 status was reignited after Biden objected when asked about the subject while vacationing with his family on the island of St. Croix.
When asked by a reporter if he had “discussed 2024,” the president completely ignored the question and wished the reporter a “happy new year.” When asked if he’s discussed his re-election with his family, Biden jokingly replied, “Is there an election coming up?”
CNN previously reported that while Biden is largely determined to run in 2024, he plans to discuss the matter further with his family over the New Year holidays.
As Huckabee mentioned, one potential name floating around as a Democratic challenger in 2024 is California Governor Gavin Newsom, who recently rebuffed an impassioned recall challenge from Republicans. Despite that chatter, Newsom said he doesn’t plan to run for president in 2024, regardless of Biden’s plans.
“He didn’t just beat Trump once, I think he can beat him again,” Newsom said. “I hope he runs, I will support him enthusiastically.”
