Faced with the lack of teachers, the National Education organizes “job dating” operations to recruit. A method far from unanimous, especially among unions in the sector.

Everywhere in France for a month, they are hundreds of aspiring teachers to try their luck. They have 15 minutes to convince and to hope teach at the start of the next school year. Faced with the lack of teachers, the National Education is recruiting in a hurry. The profiles of the candidates are diverse. We find in particular a former mechanic, who is looking for “a new way“.

In Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), 130 German teachers are missing. The first selection is based on knowledge of the language. All subjects combined, throughout the territory, thousands of positions could be vacant at the start of the school year. The mode of recruitment, without training, worries the unions. “Teaching is learning. You have to be trained to teach. And job dating is not that at all, the people who will be recruited will be put like that in the classes“, worries Geraldine Delay, departmental secretary of FSU 67.
