NBC’s late night host Jimmy Fallon has mocked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the second time in two days when reacting to the US health protection agency’s announcement that they are “remaking” in response to public criticism.

After reading a Washington Post headline acknowledging the CDC’s internal changes, Fallon compared the agency’s public relations move to Domino’s 2009 “We’re Sorry We Suck” campaign, in which a number of ads featured the pizza company’s CEO acknowledging the brand’s many shortcomings.

“It’s like when Domino’s ran those ads that said ‘we know we suck and we’re going to work on it,'” Fallon said. ‘” he added.

Fallon then made a joke in reference to the CDC’s often fluctuating advice and frequent flip-flops throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The CDC will announce their plan next month, then a new plan the following month, then go back to the original plan,” Fallon joked.

He concluded by joking that the agency’s only plan so far is to rebrand itself as “American Centers for Disease Control” for the sole purpose of using the acronym “ACDC”, like the legendary Australian rock band .

Just a day earlier, Fallon swept the CDC by referencing the story of a man in Germany who received 90 injections of COVID-19 vaccine in order to sell fake vaccine cards.

“Ninety doses!” Fallon said. “This guy could eat a fried bat for dinner and be fine.”

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been criticized and mocked from all quarters after a series of confusing messages amid a record rise in COVID-19 cases.

“And it’s boring,” he continued. “Even after 90 doses, the CDC says he’ll likely need another booster in about four months.”

Fallon previously told a joke at CDC expense in January. Mocking a “not very helpful” NBC News headline that told New Yorkers they could see “between 2 inches and 20 inches of snow” over the weekend, the host of late night joked, “Who’s making these predictions? CDC?”

The CDC released some puzzling guidelines in December, including the decision to cut the length of its recommended quarantine period for COVID patients from 10 days to five.

The agency has previously been hit for confusing updated mask guidelines. Despite previous guidelines that only unvaccinated people should wear face coverings, in July the CDC changed course to say that vaccinated people should resume wearing masks in certain situations.
