Jet Airways obtains flight permit, says Will Gatecrash Aviation Party with Akasa Air

Three years after being grounded due to financial problems, aviation regulator DGCA on Friday granted Jet Airways the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), allowing the airline to resume commercial flight operations.

Previously, the airline had successfully operated all test flights. The airline carried out the second – and last – series of two test flights on Tuesday with 31 people, including officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on board.

The carrier had conducted the first series of three test flights on Sunday with 18 people, including DGCA officials on board, they said.

The full-service carrier, which ceased flying more than three years ago, is relaunching under the ownership of the Jalan Kalrock consortium and completed its first phase of test flights on Sunday.

Jet Airways suspended operations on April 17, 2019, after its former promoters failed to provide cash and the insolvency resolution process began for the airline in June 2019.

In October 2020, the airline’s Committee of Creditors (CoC) approved the resolution plan submitted by the consortium of British Kalrock Capital and UAE-based entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan.
