Jeff Bezos calls for Twitter investigation after Biden calls on companies to pay fair share of taxes

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has called Twitter to investigate a post from Joe Biden after the president tweeted that the wealthiest companies should “pay their fair share” in taxes.

Bezos wants Twitter’s “Misinformation Council” to probe Biden’s post because he claimed the president wrongly linked higher corporate taxes to lower inflation. He admitted that the corporate tax increase is “good for discussion”. But tying taxes to lower inflation is a “non sequitur”, he insisted.

Higher corporate taxes can actually reduce inflation, economists say, by curbing an overheating economy that causes inflation.

More money in the corporate treasury could also help provide relief to people suffering from a slowing economy, by raising or increasing the amount of unemployment benefits, for example.

Twitter users were in no mood to give Bezos any slack.
