James Maddison reveals what Pep Guardiola told him in heated full-time chat after Man City overtook Leicester

Leicester midfielder James Maddison has revealed what Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola told him after the Foxes lost 1-0 on Saturday.

The pair were caught up in a heated discussion after the Premier League champions got past Brendan Rodgers’ men thanks to a stunning Kevin De Bruyne free-kick.

Maddison came to life in the last 15 minutes

A stubborn Leicester limited Guardiola’s side to few chances and threatened to snatch an equalizer while pressing in the closing stages.

Guardiola and Maddison left the pitch together after a friendly chat – and the Leicester midfielder was asked about it in his post-match interview.

Maddison told BT Sport: “He was asking why we didn’t play like the last 15 minutes the whole game.

“You realize that it is not as simple as that.

“He’s a top manager with a top team.

“He’s a top manager with a great team and it’s always going to be difficult.”

Maddison couldn’t hide his admiration for City and man of the match De Bruyne.

The Foxes star added: “When you play City, he’s one of them. You have to take your meds and accept that they have long prom periods.

“There are times when you feel like you haven’t touched the ball for ten minutes.

“But that’s how it is against arguably the best team in the world.

“We were solid and compact, we limited them to the fewest possible chances with City.

“The difference was a moment of brilliance from the Premier League’s best player.”
