Jake Paul is among the ten highest paid athletes in the world under 25, alongside Naomi Osaka, Max Verstappen and Kylian Mbappe

It hasn’t been long since Jake Paul entered the world of combat sports, but it seems the social media star turned boxer is already reaping the rewards.

Paul is said to have earned $37m (£29.8m) from boxing over the past year, having fought three times in 2021.

He sure knows how to make money

He knocked out Ben Askren, then had two fights with fellow UFC veteran Tyron Woodley, winning by split decision in the first fight, then scoring an emphatic knockout in the rematch.

Earnings from those fights put Paul sixth on Sportico’s list of highest-paid athletes under 25 and he is the only boxer to make the top ten.

Paul reacted to the news on Twitter saying, “I made my professional debut on January 30, 2020. 2 years and 4 months later I am the 6th highest paid athlete in the world aged 25 and under.

“Hate me all you want…I’m just going to prove you wrong.” Next stop on August 13.

Paul will return to the ring on August 13 for another substantial payday, but his opponent has not yet been announced, although there are rumors that it could be Tommy Fury, the younger brother of the heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.

Topping the list of highest-paid athletes under 23 is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The 25-year-old NFL star is said to have received £53.2million over the past year in salary, prize money and endorsements.

Naomi Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam singles tennis champion, comes in second place, having won $53.2m (£42.8m).

The gains come despite dropping to 85 in the world rankings at the start of the year after going on hiatus from the sport in 2021 due to mental health issues.

Third on the list is French soccer star, Kylian Mbappe, earning $48.8m (£39.2m).

He was Ligue 1’s top scorer with 27 goals as PSG won the title, but is set to join Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of this season on a free transfer that will significantly boost his earnings.

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is in fourth place, earning $43m (£34.6m).

Verstappen has won ten Grands Prix en route to victory in 2021

The Dutchman beat Lewis Hamilton last year to become Formula 1 world champion with Red Bull.

This year he has three Grand Prix victories and sits second in the Drivers’ Championship, 19 points behind leader Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.
