Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will do their utmost to avoid the ignominy of a fourth consecutive loss when they travel to DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai for the afternoon match on Saturday April 9th. Their opponents Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are another team yet to taste victory in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Chennai saw their title defense get off to a sour start when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) toppled the defending champions in a repeat of last season’s final. CSK then suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of an IPL season for the first time when they were comfortably beaten by newcomers Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their second outing.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored just 2 runs in 3 games so far and Deepak Chahar is sorely missing as point guard Mukesh Choudhary went for 1/52 of his 4 overs against PBKS. Moeen Ali are yet to find their feet this season and captain Ravindra Jadeja doesn’t look too comfortable in the shoes of MS Dhoni.
The positives for Chennai are that Dwaine Pretorius and DJ Bravo have been efficient with the ball while Dhoni and Shivam Dube are showing good form with the bat. However, the others will have to pull their socks up quickly before CSK lose too much ground this season.
To be fair, SRH seemed to be in control of the chase against LSG but was called off due to inspired bowling from Avesh Khan (4/20). Meanwhile, Williamson will be encouraged by the form of T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who are looking at a good pace but Umran Malik and Romario Shepherd have been expensive and will need to up their game.
CSK vs SRH Team News:
News from the CSK team: Deepak Chahar continues to sit out for Chennai as he recovers from a quadriceps injury picked up on international duty with India.
News from the SRH team: Australian designer Sean Abbott is expected to remain unavailable for this game but is expected to be back with his franchise from the next game.
CSK vs SRH Presentation Report: Hitting didn’t look easy at DY Patil, Stadium in the last game as Delhi only shot 149/3 which Lucknow nearly chased away with 2 balls remaining. The pitch offers good bounce but batters must carefully read the rhythm of the surface. However, as Prithvi Shaw (61 from 34) and Quinton de Kock (80 from 52) have shown, once you settle in, the runs start to flow.
Where to watch live: The match begins at 3:30 PM IST on Saturday, April 9 with the draw scheduled for 3:00 PM IST. The match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network. Viewers can also tune in to the action via Disney+ Hotstar
