“It’s time for all the good men to desert the Conservative Party”
Brexit champion Nigel Farage has argued the time has come for ‘all good men’ to ditch Britain’s ruling Tory (Conservative) Party as it raises taxes and fails on tax immigration, with few signs that change is on the horizon.
“Big article in today’s news The telegraph of the day by Lord [David] Frost saying, “Look, I know we’re not really conservative, but we could turn conservative,” Farage said in a video posted on social media in response to Boris Johnson’s former Brexit negotiator.
Now appointed to the House of Lords as a peer for life, Frost argued in the newspaper, which is close to the Conservative Party, that Tory voters should ‘fight for the party and not be tempted by a British Reform vote despite the “policy drift toward high tax economy and social liberalism.”
Farage paraphrased Frost’s thesis as being that, if the Tories went Tory, “and we stopped the Channel crossings and we cut the size of a state and we cut taxes, if we did that we would be a very good party – just that at the moment we are not”.
“So please, he says, please don’t support reform,” Farage continued, referring to the Reform UK – formerly the Brexit Party – which he previously led and which is positioned by current leader Richard Tice as a right-wing alternative to the Tories led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

“[W]We’ve heard it all before,” Farage said of Frost’s pleas that right-wing voters don’t go to a third party at election time.
“Please don’t support the Brexit Party. Please don’t support UKIP. And yet if we hadn’t deserted the Conservative Party in large numbers, Brexit and real change would never have happened. “, did he declare.
“I would simply suggest that the time has come for all good men to desert the Conservative Party.”
Frost himself was briefly seen as a potential savior by party loyalists after Boris Johnson, seen by both friends and foes as an arch-Brexiteer who would control the border and enact libertarian tax reforms and energy, turned out to govern like a liberal who was unwilling to stand up to the EU, accelerated mass migration and obsessed with net zero green agenda policies.
Frost resigned from government over its authoritarian lockdown and socialist leadership more generally – but the good press he got from it and his tough Brexit talk as Johnson’s negotiator obscured the fact that in the final analysis it supported the globalist takeover of Rishi Sunak of the Tories and accepted Johnson’s barely-reshuffled version of Theresa May’s Brexit deal which, among other heavy concessions to Brussels, “sold fisherman[e]n and coastal communities”and left Brexit incomplete, especially in Northern Ireland.
