The last of Us Part II Remastered comes to PS5
While the rumor surfaced recently, this time it’s official: a remastered version of The Last of Us Part II is coming soon to PS5. Naughty Dog and Sony have decided to make this new version of the game of the year 2020 official with a brief trailer.
As The Last of Us Part I and its Firefly edition, The Last of Us Part II Remastered will also benefit from a “WLF” edition which includes a steelbook, four pins, a patch and 47 collectible cards. We do not yet know the price of this edition, but it could be offered at a price similar to the Firefly edition, i.e. 99.99 euros. In addition, players who already own a physical PS4 copy of the game will be able to opt for the digital upgrade for 10 euros. Pre-orders will be available from December 5.
What’s new in TLOU Part II Remastered
Remaster obliges, the first new feature of this version concerns the graphics. Thus, Sony announces native integration of 4K in Fidelity mode, unlocking of the framerate on compatible televisions, better textures, higher detail rendering, better display distance… in short, a graphical upgrade rather than a real redesign, which remains logical. Sony also specifies that loading times will be reduced and that the game will be compatible with the features of the DualSense controller. It will also be possible to play certain levels with comments from the developers and the cast.
However, the new features of this remaster do not stop there. Unlike The Last of Us Part I which simply offered a graphical overhaul, The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be entitled to in-game additions, such as new outfits and new weapon skins. New game modes will also make their debut. First there is the “Guitar Free Play” mode which allows you to play music and the ambiguous “Speedrun” mode. As for the major new features, we are retaining the “Lost Levels” mode which will allow you to explore three never-before-seen levels, developed at the time of the first version of the game, but which were never implemented.
Finally, players will also have access to “No Return” mode, a completely new “roguelike and survival” experience. The goal will be to survive as long as possible in previously chosen levels, to recover resources during the session and to go as far as possible. According to Sony, it will be possible to play different characters who each have their own specificities and style of play. Each run will then unlock new characters “and more”. To discover these new features, see you on January 19 on PS5.
