“It has passed its expiration date”
Graeme Souness says Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was ‘past his best-before date’ after a howl in a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.
Spurs captain Lloris was responsible for Emi Buendia’s opener when he failed to block a long-range shot from Douglas Luiz, allowing Ollie Watkins to win the ball back and provide an assist.
It turned out to be another occasion this season when Spurs conceded the first goal of the match, but this time they didn’t come back, with Luiz later doubling the score.
Fans reacted angrily full time with boos, while chairman Daniel Levy and right-back Emerson Royal were also targeted.
But Souness believed Lloris should also take a fair share of the blame, shortly after captaining France to the World Cup final.
“I’m not a huge Lloris fan, I’ve been saying that for a long time,” the talkSPORT co-host told Sky Sports.
“I think since the start of last season he made four errors which led to goals, it’s the worst record in the Premier League for goalkeepers.
“For me, it’s past its expiration date.”

Unfortunately for Spurs boss Antonio Conte, Lloris isn’t the only one to make individual errors leading to goals, with five for the North London side this season.
Lloris is responsible for three of those errors, with no other Premier League side making more than their numbers.
The 36-year-old is in his 11th season with Tottenham after joining Lyon in 2011, and has made 23 errors leading to league goals during that time.
Only Asmir Begovic and Petr Cech have done more, with records starting in the 2006/07 season.
