“Insecure” fans say goodbye to series after final airing: “End Of An Era”

Fans of “Insecure” bid farewell to HBO’s beloved series after the show’s finale aired on Sunday.

The series officially closed its fifth and final season with an episode titled “Everything Gonna Be, Okay ?!” The show, which has gathered a dedicated and loyal fan base since its premiere in 2016, has been widely celebrated over the years for its cultural impact, centering black people and other people of color in its storytelling.

Many fans of the Emmy-winning series have described its end as the “end of an era” on Twitter.

“’Insecure’ was really one for the culture,” sports presenter Kayla Gray tweeted.

Series creator Issa Rae, who also stars in the series as Issa Dee, commemorated the series’ ending in a post on Twitter.

“I love you all”, she wrote. “Thank you for 5 seasons.”

HBO also released an hour-long HBO Max documentary on Sunday about the end of the series.

At the start of the documentary, Rae stands in front of the cast and crew as she recognizes Prentice Penny, the show’s executive producer and showrunner, for being a mentor who is “so selfless.”

“I come out of this a different person, a better person, and I hope you are too,” Rae said.

Penny, who directed the final episode, revealed on Twitter that people working on the show were “agonizing” over the finale, writing three versions before choosing the last one to air.

“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed out about how the final was received,” he said. wrote in a later tweet. “I did NOT want to lead him. I was afraid of how hot he would be if he wasn’t up to it. This is the exact reason I know I needed it. I’m so glad you all got it in the spirit it was made in.
