To reduce the president’s travel by plane, the Elysée has revised the flight plan of the presidential plane to reduce it to a direct one-way trip between New York and Nantes, without going through Paris as presidential trips normally do, learned franceinfo by the Elysée this Wednesday.
Emmanuel Macron will leave New York tonight where he attended the UN General Assembly. The Head of State must go directly to Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) to visit the wind farm at sea, without going through Paris.
The delegation accompanying the President to the United States will therefore land directly in Nantes before leaving for Paris in the presidential A330, while Emmanuel Macron will return, for his part, on the Falcon which follows all his movements by plane. This is a flight plan with less fuel, therefore less CO2 emitted.
The entourage of the Head of State salutes “a presidential sobriety”, two months after the announcement of a sobriety plan by the president, in the face of soaring energy prices and gas supply difficulties, due to the war in Ukraine.
