The RATP withdrew 150 electric buses from circulation in Paris, after a new suspicious accident, Friday April 29.

Impressive flames and a thick cloud of smoke in the sky of Paris. On Friday April 29, an electric bus caught fire in the capital. However, the fire did not cause any injuries. A few minutes earlier, a first explosion was seen, followed by a shower of sparks. Then the vehicle burst into flames. On April 4, in Paris, an electric bus of the same model also caught fire in the middle of the street.

RATP now applies the precautionary principle. “We decided immediately to withdraw these buses from operation. This concerns 149 buses in this series. We asked our supplier, Bluebus Bolloré, to assess the situation and offer us an action plan”said Nicolas Cartier, RATP bus maintenance manager. Is it a malfunction of the lithium batteries, present on the roof and at the back of these electric vehicles? Could a shock have started this fire? The same questions arise in Carcassonne (Aude), where on the morning of April 29, a bus from another manufacturer was completely burned. The batteries caught fire instantly.
