MISCELLANEOUS FACTS – The accident occurred in the middle of the night. This Friday, November 17, several migrants died after being mowed down by a truck on a road near Calais (Pas-de-Calais). Several injuries were also reported.
This new drama involving around fifteen migrants, according to BFMTV, took place on the RN216, near the Calais ferry terminal shortly after midnight.
And if the AFP mentions “ circumstances still unclear », several media outlets claim that the migrants involved in the accident were walking on the emergency lane, where several motorway sections intersect (the A16, the A26 and the A216).
The latest report from the authorities shows two dead and four injured. Among them, a migrant is still in absolute emergency this Friday, according to France Bleu. The other three were only slightly injured. The victims are all men of Kurdish origin, according to Actu.fr citing a police source.
