Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has thrown his support behind Erling Haaland as the striker has revealed he is receiving advice from a Premier League legend.
Haaland has turned down interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona to complete a £54million move to City this summer after two and a half successful years at Borussia Dortmund.
The 22-year-old is seen by many as the catalyst that finally took City across the Champions League finish line and Gundogan is confident the striker will propel the club to success this season.
During a Twitter Q&A, the Germany international was asked if Haaland will have a massive impact at Man City this season.
Gundogan answered frankly: “It is useless to interrogate him. With his determination and his desire to score goals, he will win us a lot of games. »
The German’s backing will no doubt give a boost to Haaland who was criticized following the 3-1 City Shield loss to Liverpool last weekend.
The nitpicking directed at the Norwegian sensation was heightened after Darwin Nunez’ impressive introduction to English football, with many believing the two strikers will go head-to-head in this season’s title race.
All eyes will be on Haaland again this weekend as he has the chance to open his Premier League account when City begin their title defense at West Ham.

If the sharpshooter finds the net at the London Stadium on Sunday, it could be attributed to his recent encounter with the Premier League’s all-time top scorer Alan Shearer.
Haaland posted photos of his swap deal with the former Newcastle United star and Premier League record scorer of 260 goals, alongside the caption: “I got some advice like this today.”
Meeting the two snipers could have been nothing but positive for Haaland who will be hoping to continue his prolific form as City look to win a third successive Premier League title.
City’s new No.9 arrives at the Etihad Stadium having scored 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund during his spell in the Bundesliga.
