MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Homeless Minnesota family receives a special surprise just in time for Christmas.
It’s all thanks to a non-profit organization called Best Christmas Ever. The association helps make wishes come true for families during the holidays.
“I wasn’t expecting that at all,” says Pascale Darbonne.
For several months, her family of six has been living in a hotel and struggling to get by. The four children in the family have special needs.
“I told them before that we weren’t really going to have Christmas and that we weren’t really going to do much,” said Darbonne.
But Thursday morning, Christmas arrived early.
The best Christmas ever brought many gifts to the family, and the greatest of them was a house. The association chose the Dabronne family as the recipient of its wish.
“It’s very overwhelming, not something I expected,” said Darbonne.
Best Christmas Ever, along with a production company, has raised $ 40,000 for the family over the past six weeks.
“We will be supporting the family for an entire year in a home,” said Declan Brown of The Backpocket, a podcast production company. “We will pay their rent for a whole year. So we’re pretty excited about it.
Groups still need help finding furniture and moving the family into the house. If you would like to help, click here.
