“I am deeply concerned” about the debt ceiling agreement

During an appearance on FBN’s “Mornings with Maria” on Tuesday, Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) expressed concern over a debt ceiling deal reached between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and President Joe Biden over the weekend.

The young U.S. senator from Tennessee told host Maria Bartiromo that Democrat spending, coupled with national security concerns, presented challenges with the debt ceiling deal.

“Maria, this language has been out for less than 48 hours,” Hagerty said. “We are going through it right now. In fact, I’m flying to Washington right after this interview. I’m in Nashville right now. But, I am deeply concerned about this. We’re having a lot of trouble in our system right now because of the massive spending that the Democrats have undertaken. These expenditures have placed our economy in a very difficult situation. We have a deepening national security crisis around the world. It must be a series of serious cuts. And what I know is better than the blank check the Biden administration was asking for. But there is much more to dig into. »

“The Chamber has received the invoice at this time,” he added. “They’re going to go through their process today with the rules committee and then on Wednesday night after the market closes, I understand they’ll vote on it. I will be watching this very closely and speaking with my colleagues.
