Hundreds of police gathered again on February 6 against the reform of the judicial police, after the publication last week of two reports, one of which came from the Senate crushing the project wanted by Gérald Darmanin.
Several rallies of police officers were held on February 6 against the reform of the judicial police. This mobilization comes a week after the publication of two reports, one of which came from the Senate which is very critical of the reform desired by Gérald Darmanin.
Rallies took place in particular in Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, Versailles, Angers and Nanterre in front of the headquarters of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ). “Without the DCPJ = France to the mafia”, could be read on A4 format sheets held by police officers gathered from behind in front of the antenna of the PJ of Nantes.

The “spontaneous” gatherings came “from the base” following the “statements of the minister [Gérald Darmanin] after the publication of the reports,” Yann Bauzin, president of the National Association of the Judicial Police (ANPJ), created in August against the reform, told AFP. Last week, two reports were published, including one led by Senator LR Philippe Dominati who deemed the project unsuitable and asked the minister to modify it.
We are organizing the reform in a very hasty and urgent way for the end of 2024, which is impossible for everyone
The second, conducted by the General Inspectorates of Administration, Police and Justice (IGA, IGPN and IGJ), did not question the merits of the project but formulated 19 recommendations, including guarantees on the resources to be allocated to the fight against organized crime.
The report of the National Assembly’s fact-finding mission devoted to the reform must in turn be published on 7 February.

The reform project plans to place all the police services of a department – intelligence, public security, border police and PJ – under the authority of a single departmental director of the national police (DDPN), dependent on the prefect.
Yann Bauzin denounced the reaction of Gérald Darmanin, who has already announced the designation of “forerunners” of the reform. “The inspection report is very circumspect and not at all triumphant. The Dominati report slashes the project with regard to the PJ. And the minister seems to ignore it,” he lamented.
“We are organizing the reform in a very hasty and urgent way for the end of 2024, which is impossible for everyone”, also regretted an investigator from the Versailles PJ.
“We must open our eyes, we are not in front of people who ask for more wages or working hours, we must take into account their concerns”, underlined to AFP a representative of the ANPJ, in Marseilles. – where the sacking of highly respected PJ zonal director Eric Arella sparked outrage in October.
