  • Witness Alexandra Arellano said she was about to leave a club where she worked when she heard a gunshot, then “about 30 or 50 bullets fired”.

  • Arellano’s fiancé, Jesse Fuentes, said he and another security guard heard a commotion at a nearby garage. “Once we got there it was pretty much a shootout,” he said. “We were just trying to take cover because we couldn’t tell where the shots were coming from at first because they were coming from two different areas. But the one that really freaked everyone out was the guns. This is when everyone was running and pushing.

  • Sacramento Police Chief Katherine Lester said officers heard gunshots and arrived at the scene at 10 and K streets, about two blocks northwest of the State Capitol. State, where they had found multiple gunshot victims.
