Harvard Quietly Shuts Down ‘Disinformation’ Program Casting Doubt on Hunter Biden’s Laptop Story
Harvard University has quietly ended its “misinformation” research program, giving the boot to director Dr. Joan Donovan, who cast doubt on Hunter Biden’s “Laptop from Hell” story.
The program was founded in 2019, part of the post-2016 boom of “disinformation” research departments on campuses across the Western world.
These departments, along with various think tanks, non-profits and “fact checkers”, received an influx of attention and funding from globalist billionaires, came out of nowhere after the election of Donald Trump to take a leading role in censoring social media platforms. .
Dr. Donovan, who led the Technology and Social Change project at Harvard, was one of the beneficiaries of this trend. But her program has now been closed by the university, a decision she says was made for “bureaucratic” reasons.
In an email obtained by Semafor, the director of Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy said the project represented a “limited exception” to Harvard Kennedy School’s policy that “all projects of research must be led by a full faculty member”. .”
Exceptions to the policy, according to the email, “cannot continue indefinitely without a faculty member as senior project manager and academic director.”
While leading the project, Donovan cast doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story, which left-leaning media reluctantly admitted as a valid story, years after it was smashed by Emma- Jo Morris and Miranda Devine in the New York Post in 2020. Donovan’s argument? This Hunter Biden could have afforded a better laptop repairman.
“So we were kind of expecting more and different styles of attacking including a leak, but we were really suspicious of that is you’ve got somebody with millions of dollars. He can’t allowing Best Buy’s Geek Squad to come to his house for the laptop he has evidence of crimes on? I mean, it’s really hard to believe,” Donovan said on a Harvard Kennedy School podcast. .
