Harry Styles’ Grammy Fashion: Rainbow Jumpsuit Divides Social Media

The former One Direction star started the night off in a plunging technicolor jumpsuit that revealed a collection of butterfly and bird tattoos on his otherwise bare chest. The colorful harlequin motif was brought to life by Swarovski crystals, while the legs of the sparkling garment flared out over a pair of white boots.

Although Styles often opts for red carpet looks — and even jumpsuits — from Italian brand Gucci, this one was designed by Egonlab, an up-and-coming French brand known for its genderless designs.
The outfit split social media, with comments ranging from “he can literally wear anything” to “looks like he forgot the jacket”. Others have dubbed the look an example of “clowncore”, while the singer has also drawn comparisons – both favorable and derogatory – to two of Britain’s most flamboyant pop icons: Elton John and David Bowie.
The jumpsuits became something of a signature look for Styles, who wore them regularly on stage during his Love On Tour. So it was no surprise that he had a second one ready for his highly anticipated Grammys performance.

Taking the stage for a rendition of the hit song “As It Was” (which you might recall featured a video of the singer wearing a – you guessed it – red sequin jumpsuit), the star opted for a less revealing, but no less exuberant version, number.

Even then, he couldn’t help but bring some sparkle to the outfit in a sparkly low-cut top.
