Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya on Tuesday refuted reports that his two luxury wristwatches were seized by customs officials. Pandya has stated that all the allegations against him are without merit.

“False perceptions are circulating on social media. I voluntarily went to the customs department at Mumbai airport to declare the items I brought and pay the required customs duties,” Pandya tweeted.

While the media report claimed that the luxury watches were worth Rs 5 crore, Pandya said the cost was around Rs 1.5 crore.

According to ANI, officials from the customs department seized two wristwatches worth Rs 5 crore from Pandya as he returned from Dubai on Sunday evening (November 14). The cricketer would not have received the receipt for the invoice for the watches, according to the report.

Pandya was part of the Indian cricket team that traveled to the UAE for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.
