Gregg Popovich congratulates Enes Kanter for talking about China without mentioning China

| Today Headlines | Local News

Enes Kanter has put the NBA and all of its elite cohorts in the limelight this season. The Boston Celtics center was opened with its opposition to human rights abuses in China: a message that has become more “an elephant in the room” than a praised sentiment of social activism seen by supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement.

As the Association remains silent on supporting a vocal and frustrated Kanter, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is now choosing to stand alongside the Celtics center.

Pop praised the 29-year-old for his steadfastness in his posts – knowing that the outside buzz led to scrutiny of Kanter’s image, while potentially affecting his time on the pitch.

“I’m glad Enes speaks up when he wants to. I think it’s great. No reason not to,” Popovich commented, watching Kanter’s wave of online campaigns to garner support against the CCP’s mistreatment of Uyghurs and other groups.

While Popovich refused to directly mention China in his response to anti-CCP activism vehemently, he was unable to close his eyes to the injustices occurring abroad, highlighted by Kanter.

Kanter’s last target in the hypocrisy hunt was Brooklyn Nets governor Joe Tsai.

“The owner of @brooklynNets @ joetsai1999 is a coward and a puppet of the Chinese government,” Kanter announced via Twitter ahead of the Celtics’ game against the Nets on Wednesday, November 24. “Being anti-CCP does NOT mean being anti-Asian. It is possible to #StopAsianHate & stand up against the CCP.”

With the NBA positioning itself as a benefactor from the deep pockets of the CCP – with nearly $ 500 million in annual revenue received from the international market – Kanter cannot help but address the Association’s lack of double standards and its more. important stars by drawing attention to social injustices in America without denouncing China.

Kanter proposed to figures such as LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and retired tall Michael Jordan to join him on a trip to China and understand the importance of his message – above all, a statement meant to liberate any class of people subject to China’s tyranny of their ethical standards.
