Goldie Hawn wishes Kurt Russell a ‘happy birthday’ after revealing why they never got married
Goldie Hawn is paying tribute to her ‘goofy man’ on her 72nd birthday after she and Kurt Russell revealed why they never got married.
On Friday, Hawn took to Instagram and shared a fun photo of her 40-year-old partner. “Happy birthday to the wacky man in my life! Love you baby,” she wrote, adding a red heart emoji.
Hawn’s son, Oliver Hudson, took to his comments section and wrote, “Love this pic!!! Hahahah…sums up your 40 years together.”
Kate Hudson posted her own shoutout to Russell. She shared a sweet video of her daughter Rani helping Russell blow out her birthday candle.
“Always a fun double day in our family! St. Patrick’s Day and daddy’s birthday! I love this man so much! How about a birthday for Kurt! Happy birthday daddy,” she wrote. next to the video.
The anniversary cries come after Hawn and Russell’s recent interview with Variety, where one of Hollywood’s oldest couples shared they were “constantly” asked why they never got married.

“We were constantly asked, ‘When are you getting married? Why aren’t you married?'” Russell told the outlet, referring to the early years of their relationship in the ’80s.
“And we were like, ‘Why does anyone care?'” he continued. “We asked our kids if they cared. They didn’t. We didn’t.”
The couple first met while appearing in the 1966 comedy “The one and only authentic and original family group.” She was 21 and he was 16 at the time. Hawn previously recalled that Russell was “adorable” but “far too young” for her to date.
They started dating in 1983 and recently celebrated four decades of partnership on Valentine’s Day.
Their one big secret to staying together for 40 years: Don’t get married.

“We did perfectly fine without getting married. I already feel devoted and isn’t that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, care and love, so we’re fine,” Hawn said in an interview with Now To Love.
“We have brilliantly raised our children; they are beautiful people. We did a great job there, and we didn’t have to get married to do it. I love waking up every day and seeing he’s there and knowing I have a choice,” the actress shared. “There’s really no reason to get married.”
