Golovkin is the IBF middleweight world champion

His fights have been watched by huge audiences in Japan, and his popularity is so great that a world famous star in Golovkin is happy to travel to Saitama to fight him.

“I already have the experience of going to Japan,” GGG told talkSPORT.com, “During my amateur career, I took part in an event there.

“Of course, it’s always a challenge to come to a new country and fight there.

“I can’t wait to fight in Japan.”

GGG currently holds the IBF world middleweight title, while Murata is WBA champion. They will find themselves in a unification of the belts.

Golovkin continued: “Ryota Murata is a solid fighter, he’s a former Olympic champion, he’s a current world champion and of course for a reason, he deserved it.

“And I have to say that fighters of his level are the reason why an event like this is organized.

“It’s going to be a great event.

“Ryota Murata is the reason why I come to his country to fight.

“It’s going to be an incredible event for the boxing world and it’s something we look forward to.”

GGG and Canelo will reunite if they both win their next fights

Golovkin is known to have already signed for a trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez on September 17.

However, he must beat Murata first and hope his Mexican rival defeats Dmitry Bivol for the fight to happen.

As a result, GGG insisted, “I think it’s too early to talk about it.

“I think the time will come and we’ll be happy to discuss it, but it’s premature.

“I think we should focus on the fight ahead of us.”
