Gas Commission proposes German household gas cap at 12 cents per kWh

Reuters reports that – Germany is expected to cap gas prices at 12 euro cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for 80% of basic household consumption from March 2023 until at least the end of April 2024, according to a report by the country’s expert commission to the government.

The cap should also benefit large industrial consumers and is expected to come into effect from January 1, 2023, the report said on Monday, also proposing to impose conditions on companies using it, such as maintaining 90% of jobs for one year and maintain the existing sites in Germany.
