Disney returns to Arendelle.
Bob Iger revealed that the studio is working on a fourth “Frozen” film in addition to the previously announced “Frozen 3,” which has not yet been released.
“‘Frozen 3’ is in preparation, and there could “There will also be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works,” the Disney CEO said Thursday on “Good Morning America.” “But I don’t have much to say about these films at the moment. (Director) Jenn Lee, who created the original “Frozen” and “Frozen 2,” is working hard with her Disney animation team on not one but actually two stories.
Iger made the announcement from the Hong Kong Disney theme park, where he is in town for the “World of Frozen” opening ceremony. The attraction allows visitors to not only meet Olaf, Anna and Elsa, but also dine at restaurants and stroll the streets that evoke the mystical world of Arendelle.
“For years, in our Disney Parks, we have been creating these large immersive worlds. Essentially, they are the physical embodiment of some of the greatest stories we’ve told… And of course, “Frozen” being one of our most treasured franchises, as you mentioned, a very successful film, I think it’s perfect to build the place where ‘Frozen’ takes place,” Iger said. “It’s simply a fantasy land that allows people to immerse themselves in the story of ‘Frozen’ and interact with all the great characters from the films.”
“Frozen” and its 2019 sequel “Frozen II” became huge breakthrough hits for Disney. The sequel remains the biggest animated film of all time with $1.45 billion, although the original was not far behind with $1.33 billion.
