Free laptops, minimum price of cow dung are among 5 Congress guarantees for the state

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced a set of five assurances for residents of the state, ahead of the assembly elections. These five guarantees revealed during a press conference held at the War room of the Congress in Jaipur, include the distribution of free laptops or tablets to first-year students at public colleges. The second promise aims to guarantee the accessibility of education in English for all students.

The third commitment involves the promulgation of a legal framework to strengthen the old pension system (OPS). In an effort to support local agriculture and environmental sustainability, the fourth commitment includes launching the purchase of cow dung at the rate of ₹2 per kilogram, a scheme currently operational in Chhattisgarh under the name ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana.”

The final and fifth commitment enhances the flagship Chiranjeevi Health Insurance scheme, by introducing an ’emergency relief’ insurance guarantee of up to ₹15 lakh, providing essential cover in critical situations.

Further, Gehlot highlighted his government’s track record of keeping promises and cited respecting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to waive loans to farmers in a timely manner.

“Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge say that ‘keep the promises you make’. Last time, Rahul Gandhi promised to waive (farmers’) loans in seven days, and the promise was fulfilled within the stipulated time frame,” he said at a press briefing in Jaipur.

He also stressed the need to keep his promises, lashing out at the BJP-led central government. for alleged misuse of federal investigative agencies, following the recent searches by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) linked to state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra.

Gehlot accused the agencies of being used as political tools and warned that the countdown to the ruling government had begun. He referred to a statement by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who commented on the ED’s activities, saying, “More than dogs, it is the ED that is roaming the country.” » Gehlot expressed solidarity with Baghel, suggesting that such statements stem from great frustration.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister also said that Prime Minister Modi is adopting the ‘guarantee model’, suggesting that the government implements policies reminiscent of the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s approach.

These five guarantees are in addition to two previous commitments: providing cooking gas cylinders at ₹500 to 1.05 crore families and offering annual honorarium of ₹10,000 to female heads of household in installments.

These announcements follow Gehlot’s recent promises made at Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s public rally in Jhunjhunu. Gehlot said the party’s election manifesto, containing other announcements, will be released in the coming days.
