  • A new text was released Wednesday by the January 6 select committee involving Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

  • She said Trump should discourage armed protests in state capitals “given the heat of the situation.”

  • Ingraham advised Trump’s former chief of staff to have the boss “on camera” after the insurgency.

Fox News opinion host Laura Ingraham has once again appeared in documents leaked by the special House committee investigating the January 6 insurgency.

A Wednesday letter from the committee to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy included a January 12, 2021 correspondence between Ingraham and Meadows in which the expert provided communications strategy advice on how the former President Donald Trump is expected to handle the protests planned at several buildings in the state capital.

“Remarks to camera discouraging protests against state capital[o]Ls especially with guns will be well advised given how hot the situation is, “Ingraham sent to Meadows, according to the committee’s letter.”[E]everyone needs to calm down and pray for our country and for those who lost their lives last week. “

A January 11, 2021 FBI Bulletin warned of armed protests that were “scheduled in all 50 state capitals from January 16 to January 20 at least, and the United States Capitol from January 17 to 20”. And in the spring of 2020, protesters transported assault weapons to the Michigan Capitol in Lansing.

Fox News did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment on the latest texts leaked by the committee.

Ingraham, along with a few other prominent Fox News colleagues, privately begged Mark Meadows, then White House chief of staff, to force former President Donald Trump to dismiss his supporters as the Capitol riot unfolded. .

Ingraham condemned the on-air violence during special coverage as the Capitol siege unfolded and suggested that the left-wing antifa group was at least partly to blame for the riot, despite no evidence to the support for this assertion. At the same time, she privately sent an urgent text message to Meadows, prompting him to ask the president to recall his supporters.

“Mark, the president has to tell the people on Capitol Hill to come home. It hurts us all. He’s destroying his legacy,” she wrote to Meadows on January 6.

Ingraham’s January 12 exchange with Meadows was leaked in the context of the committee asking House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to provide all information and documents he has in relation to the events of the day, including his conversations with Trump White House.
