ORIGINAL: Fortnite developer Epic Games is taking the game offline for extended maintenance as part of the launch of update 27.10, which marks the start of OG Seasons 7 and 8. Available on PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 27.10 will be available for download on the morning of November 16. It will come with a period of server downtime, meaning you won’t be able to play Fortnite for at least a few hours. If you want to know when you can log back into Fortnite, check out the server downtime schedule for 10/27 below.
The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, along with details on when the servers will be taken offline for maintenance.
“What do you call frozen pirate treasure? …Pol-arrr Loot!” reads an Epic tweet.
“Downtime for version 27.10 begins at 4 a.m. EST, with matchmaking disabled shortly before.”
For UK fans, this means Fortnite will go offline entirely at 9:00 GMT, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8:30.
Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when the downtime will end, but maintenance typically lasts around a few hours.
This means Fortnite should be back online no later than 11am GMT UK time.
As part of the update, Epic will bring back Frosty Flights and a snow biome. This is in addition to pirate camps, “cloak and dagger equipment”, and various weapons and items.
Unvaulted weapons include the Flint-Knock Pistol, Minigun, and the powerful Quad Launcher.
Players will also be able to use the Poison Dart Trap, but not in Zero Build. Redeployment of detailed gliders will also make a return, not to mention buried treasure, which should help with some challenges.
Perhaps most exciting of all is the return of the X-4 Stormwing and the Pirate Cannon, the latter of which lets you launch your teammates.
