Robert Whittaker doesn’t give UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou much of a chance against Tyson Fury in a boxing ring unless he’s wearing MMA gloves.

‘The Gyspy King’ picked up a sixth-round knockout victory over Whyte at Wembley in April before announcing his decision to retire from professional boxing for good.

Fury knocked out Whyte in the sixth round of their fight in April, then confirmed it was his last as a professional

Fury can be done with boxing, but it quickly became clear he wasn’t done with fighting when the WBC heavyweight titleholder invited Ngannou to the ring during his post-fight speech .

The heavyweight duo discussed a crossover fight with hybrid rules set to take place in 2023, once Ngannou recovers from knee surgery and resolves his contract dispute with the UFC.

Whittaker is giving ‘The Predator’ absolutely no chance in a traditional boxing match against Fury, of whom he is a huge fan.

“I think Tyson Fury would dismantle Ngannou in a boxing fight. I think Tyson Fury is phenomenal. I’m a huge fan, by the way,” the 31-year-old told talkSPORT.

“He’s a living legend and he’s so good at what he does, and he’s built for it. I know he’s kidding but he’s built for it, his reach and size are stupid.

“The Reaper” says the only way Ngannou can beat Fury in the boxing ring is if he agrees to wear the four-ounce gloves typically worn by MMA fighters in the octagon.

Whittaker is one of the best fighters in the UFC

“It doesn’t diminish Ngannou, I think he’s a phenomenal fighter and has some serious power, but Fury has fought some of the greatest hitters in the world,” Whittaker added.

“I think for Ngannou to have a good chance of winning a boxing fight, it would have to be with little gloves. A four-ounce glove boxing fight, it’s going to be dangerous, it’s not going to go past the first one.

Whittaker is set to begin his path to another title when he takes on top contender Marvin Vettori at UFC Paris on September 3.
