A former Democratic Party leader from California has explained why Joe Biden is losing support from his own party and Hispanic voters, as his approval rating plummets among both groups.

Former state Senate leader Gloria Romero joined “Fox & Friends First” on Friday to explain why the Democratic Party needs a new leadership in order to garner more support. Several Democrats have dodged in recent weeks when asked if they want Biden to run in 2024.

“They’re basically rats running from a sinking ship,” she said.

In an interview with Fox News Digital last month, a spokesperson for the Young Democrats of America would not say if the organization wanted Biden to run again, but admitted they would support him if he became the nominee.

The administration has maintained that Biden plans to run for re-election, but the growing list of those who oppose his candidacy suggest his age and unpopularity with voters could hamper his potential candidacy.

Biden currently has an underwater approval rating, with the latest Fox News Poll showing that only 40% of voters approve of his professional performance.

Romero said part of the reason Biden fails to sustain his support is due to the Democratic Party’s inability to accurately convey the reality of what the country faces.

“We find that we don’t believe the message that’s coming from the DNC and basically saying it’s not about a new generation of leaders, it’s about the economy, the recession, the inflation, the jobs. It’s basically the same kitchen table problems that this Joe Biden-led Democratic Party is failing to solve.”

Romero went on to explain that this correlates to how Latino voters have begun to drift away from Democrats due to the left pushing “wake-up calls” and not addressing serious issues like border security. and inflation.

“We’re sick of Joe Biden, whether it’s border insecurity, inflation or recession, too many wake-ups gone crazy, parents’ lack of education rights. So Latinos are a key group and the Democratic Party is waking up to a very cruel slap in the face from Latinos saying we’re tired of being taken for granted,” she told Todd Piro.
