Ford UAW members poised to ratify contract, joining GM and Stellantis

United Auto Workers members at Ford gained enough votes to ratify their contract Friday, becoming the third and final automaker to join the group, ending a strike that attracted widespread political attention and solidified the President Joe Biden’s alignment with unions.
Union members at General Motors and Stellantis reached the same milestones Thursday and earlier Friday, respectively, according to UAW vote trackers.
The votes mark the end of a tumultuous clash between labor and management that drew top lawmakers and Democrats, including Biden, who made an unprecedented visit to the picket line and was deeply invested in the outcome. A prolonged strike threatens to further disrupt the economy and provide an opening for former President Donald Trump, who is courting blue-collar support in his bid to return to the White House.
