Football news LIVE: Lampard slams Chelsea ‘reality’, Ten Hag fears ‘serious’ Antony injury, Salah rages over Liverpool top four failure, Tottenham’s latest manager

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes chairman Daniel Levy could be the problem in the club’s next manager search.

Speaking about his former club’s current situation, he said on Drivetime:

“That may be the ambition of the club. They seem to be missing key signings – they were for Bruno Fernandes and lost to Manchester United, they were for Luis Diaz and lost to Liverpool, back when they were for Willian and he went to Chelsea. He passed a medical examination at Spurs!

“What’s going on with Spurs, I’m not sure, but something has to change.”

Asked if the managers were turned away after meeting Daniel Levy and then realizing the lack of control they would have at the club, Bent replied: “It must be that.

“It’s a huge club, they have the best stadium, the best training ground, they have a top group of players, but for some reason these managers don’t want the job.

“It must be something about the interview room.” They meet Daniel Levy and there’s something they don’t like and they turn away.

“I don’t know if Levy and Spurs know what they want. They need to rebuild, to start over, but they’re so afraid of being left behind that they’re like, ‘We need to find a top manager. NOW”.

“Rebuild, get a proven winner now? They don’t know what to do, they are caught in the middle.

“I don’t think it’s a badly run club at all, I just think it’s decision making.”
