Mayweather’s fight has been canceled

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has passed away at the age of 73 and as a result the country will stop crying.

The UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs has announced a 40-day mourning period and a three-day work suspension across all ministries and the private sector beginning Friday, May 13.

Mayweather’s fight was scheduled for Saturday, May 14.

It has been reported that Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum will act as President until the Federal Council elects a new President within 30 days.

Mayweather’s fight was to take place live from the helipad atop the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.

It is currently unclear whether the event will be postponed and rescheduled or canceled permanently.

Anyway, manager Sarah Fina, who represents a boxer on the undercard, is known to have posted, “Entire show cancelled! The President of the United Arab Emirates passed away today! It’s so crazy!”
