Many expected Floyd Mayweather to wipe the floor with Logan Paul when the pair met in the ring in the summer of 2021, but that wasn’t the case.
The pair went the full eight rounds of their exhibition contest and Paul walked out of the contest with far more credit than he entered.
Mayweather was clearly looking for the finish in the final round, but when that didn’t happen, the former five-weight world champion appeared deflated in his post-fight interview.
After the fight, clips emerged of what was said in each fighter’s corner after the first round and Mayweather made startling remarks.
In the first clip, Paul’s coach encouraged him, saying after the first round, “If he can’t come in, he can’t…”
To which Paul replied by finishing the sentence: “…winning”.
The coach added: “You won this round. You won this fucking round, but you didn’t win the fight.
“We have seven more.”

Over there in the corner of the Hall of Fame, his coach told him, “Hit him high in the forehead with a jab, just let your back foot go.”
Surprisingly, Mayweather shook his head and admitted, “It’s hard to jab him.”
He only landed seven of the 14 punches he attempted over the eight rounds. For context, however, at 6ft 2in, Paul is five inches taller than Mayweather and he was three stone heavier, roughly 42 pounds difference between the two men.
Paul’s height advantage and the fact that he was 18 years younger is what made the fight interesting.
The social media influencer landed the same number of punches but attempted 73, far more than Floyd. This is where the skill differential came into play.
It was in the power shots that Mayweather found his advantage, hitting 36 of 93 attempts. Paul landed at just 21 and he made 144 attempts.
Although that fight ended last summer, the rivalry is far from dead. Paul insisted Mayweather owed him money for the ‘legalized bank robbery’, but the boxing legend insists his young challenger was paid off.
Not true, apparently.
When asked for an exact figure of how much he’s missing, he explained in an interview recently: ‘I guess it’s somewhere between two and five million, conservatively.
“It’ll be fixed, I’m young, man and I have time, I have time to troll, to settle a civil lawsuit – he’s just a big spender, he can’t spend like this.
“It’s a fact. Short a few mil. We’re taking this one to court. See you in the courtroom. Congratulations on going to jail, Floyd.
The intrigue thickened earlier this year when Mayweather’s team reached out to Paul to see if he could step in and take on the retired superstar 50-0 in a rematch.
Paul couldn’t believe they had the audacity to ask.
“He went to a press conference or something the other day and he had the audacity to tell the media that I asked for a rematch,” he said in disbelief.
“Let me just set the record straight – why the hell would I ask for a rematch with someone who doesn’t pay you for the fight?
“If I haven’t been paid for the first one, why on earth would I ask for another knowing full well that I probably won’t be paid the money I was owed for my work either? You idiot **.
“Secondly, they or they asked us for a revenge! He was supposed to fight on top of the Burj Al-Arab; the seven-star hotel with a helipad at the top. It would have been amazing.
“I got called a month and a half before because some bullshit happened with his opponent and they said ‘Would you like to fight Floyd in a month and a half? It’s someone on his team, or someone who at least thinks he could close the deal enough to make a confidential phone call. I go ‘bro, what? Pay me for the first fucking fight,” and hang up.
