Firefighters tackle building fire in South East London | London

About 80 firefighters are battling a blaze at a 17-storey building in south-east London.

A dozen fire engines were at the scene of the blaze in St Mark’s Square, Bromley, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

Half of a five-room apartment on the 15th floor of the building was on fire, and part of the roof was also on fire. Firefighters were called at 11:58 a.m. Sunday and were still at the scene.

The brigade’s 999 control center received 88 calls alerting it to the fire.

Fire crews came from Bromley, Beckenham, Addington, Woodside, Lewisham, Forest Hill, Sidcup and Croydon and surrounding fire stations.

The cause of the fire was not known.

Footage posted to social media showed flames and black smoke coming from part of a tilted roof. Other footage showed firefighters on the roof with the flames apparently extinguished.
