Father fatally shot by ex-partner’s fiancé during custody exchange

A father was shot and killed during a fight with his ex-girlfriend’s fiancé during a child custody exchange, authorities said.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of County Road 166 in Parker, Colorado, around 3 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report that two men were fighting and one had shot the other man at chest, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. release.

The shooting victim was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man was shot by his ex-girlfriend’s fiancé, identified as Jeffrey Church, the sheriff’s office said. Church, a Colorado Springs resident, is being held on a charge of first-degree murder.
