Fantasy RB Week 17 Rankings: Who to start with, sit down to run in Fantasy football
| Latest News Headlines | Google News
Fantasy Championship week has finally arrived, and those lucky enough to still play are no doubt wondering how they survived. Whether you’ve made up for the loss of a key with a timely waiver pickup, or haven’t suffered any injury / COVID injuries yet, there’s a good chance you have at least one or two issues this week. Our Week 17 RB fantasy leaderboards can help you navigate whatever comes your way and make the right decisions to get started, sit down.
It remains to be seen if Dalvin Cook (reserve / COVID) even has a chance to return for the Week 17 game against Green Bay, but if he is able to, he won’t be activated until next weekend. Austin Ekeler (reserve / COVID) is more likely to return for his game against Denver. As long as either one is active, it will remain a must-have.
STANDARD RANKING FOR WEEK 17:
quarterback | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker
Rashaad Penny (against the Lions), Elijah Mitchell or Jeff Wilson Jr. (against the Texans), Devin Singletary (against the Falcons), Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris (against the Jaguars), and D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams (@ Seahawks) are all borderline starters or at least match dependent starters most weeks, but they all look good in week 17. Swift (shoulder) or Mitchell (knee) if they’re back, but their respective teams wouldn’t activate them if they weren’t going to see some meaningful touches. Stevenson (reserve / COVID) might actually be the bigger wild card after Harris had a dominant performance, but it had been a pretty even split before Stevenson’s health issues.
WEEK 17 PPR RANKINGS:
quarterback | Back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker
On the flip side, Dare Ogunbowale (@ Patriots), Darrel Williams (@ Bengals), Josh Jacobs (@ Colts), Sony Michel (@ Ravens), Michael Carter (vs Buccaneers), Myles Gaskin (@ Titans), Chuba Hubbard (@ Saints), Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray (vs. Rams) and Rex Burkhead (@ 49ers) are all in tough spots. Michel, Williams and Jacobs are tough to sit in in 12-team leagues, but the rest seem better suited to the benches, at least in standard leagues. Even with that said, guaranteed hits do have some value, and Ogunbowale and Burkhead look set for over 15 opportunities. Carter won’t be far behind. Would you rather have one of those full-backs or, say, AJ Dillon (vs Vikings) in a much more favorable game? As standard you would probably prefer to have Dillon, but that’s questionable. Choose your poison.
Fortunately, most of the tougher matchups go to either go-to players like Cook / Alexander Mattison (@ Packers) or Ezekiel Elliott (vs. Cardinals), or players you won’t feel bad leaving on your bench. Sure, you might have to start someone like Gaskin or Carter due to injuries or COVID, but, again, you’ll at least be using players who are given a decent amount of hits.
Every year, unlikely heroes take the limelight in Week 17 in Gambling. This year it could be Ronald Jones (@ Jets), Penny, Wilson Jr., or someone who is third on a team’s depth chart at the time of this posting. There are a lot of adjustments that will need to be made to these standings (and start them, make them decisions) ahead of Sunday’s kickoff, so make sure your starters are handcuffed and ready to hit the suspension wire / free agent all the way through. week long.
To note: We’ll be updating these RB rankings throughout the week, so check back for analysis and the latest player moves.
