Ex-Liverpool star Danny Murphy worried about Jordan Henderson’s absence at Brentford as Reds linked with Matheus Nunes
Danny Murphy believes Liverpool have felt the full effects of Jordan Henderson’s absence in their Brentford clash.
Jurgen Klopp’s side got off to a terrible start in west London as they trailed 2-0 at half-time, while two more Yoane Wissa goals were disallowed following VAR checks.
The club captain is out with a concussion and Murphy believes Liverpool missed the England midfielder as he crumbled in the first half.
“We talked about Henderson and his impact on this team,” Murphy said in commentary for talkSPORT.
“When he’s not around, they lack a bit of leadership, someone to kick them in the back, someone to organize.”
“He’s the only player I think about when he’s not around,” Murphy added. “He’s the one you miss the most because of the influence he has.
“At Liverpool games you often hear his voice – organising, cheering, kicking people, you need people on the pitch who let you know when you’re not there.
“I was looking around after the second disallowed goal and I didn’t see anyone saying ‘oh you, why don’t you score it? You do better, you win the tackle.

Many fans believe Liverpool need to freshen up their midfield with Thiago Alcantara, the only senior midfielder they have signed in the last four and a half years.
And shortly before kick-off, the Daily Telegraph reported that the Reds were exploring a deal to bring Wolves star Matheus Nunes to Anfield.
The Portugal international was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer but opted to join Wolves, however, the report adds that the Merseysiders are committed to bidding for him afterwards.
However, talkSPORT understands Wolves have no intention of selling the 24-year-old in this window.
