verton sacked Rafael Benitez after six months in charge.

Benitez leaves Goodison Park after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Norwich, leaving Everton 16th in the Premier League after nine defeats in their last 12 games.

That run saw the Toffees slip from fourth in the table to just six points above the relegation zone.

Traveling Everton fans demanded that Benitez ‘get out of our club’ in the Norwich defeat.

And the Spaniard was sacked following an emergency board meeting.

A statement from Everton read: “Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as the team’s first manager.

“Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the Club with immediate effect.

“An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.”

Benitez signed a three-year contract when he took over from Carlo Ancelotti in the summer, which was an unpopular appointment with many Everton supporters due to his past links with Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
